This is a hybrid position: the successful candidate must attend site meetings and travel to our headquarters in Minden for occasional meetings and monthly team gatherings. A reliable vehicle and a valid driver’s license are essential.

Estimator Job Responsibilities:

Estimating and Cost Analysis:

  • Support the sales and project management teams by preparing detailed cost estimates for prospective projects, focusing on prefabrication and trade scope pricing.

  • Perform quantity takeoffs in collaboration with the Design department, accurately assessing materials, labour, and project-specific details.

  • Track and monitor material and supplier cost fluctuations, adjusting estimates accordingly to ensure competitive and accurate pricing.

  • Update, and maintain a detailed estimating template for the above tasks.

Procurement Job Responsibilities:

  • Manage procurement processes, including issuing purchase orders, negotiating contracts with suppliers, and maintaining active communication to ensure on-time delivery.

  • Track inventory and manage order flow, ensuring all materials meet specifications and arrive according to the project schedule.

  • Oversee project documentation and maintain accurate records of all transactions, change orders, and purchase orders. Manage inventory.

Administrative Tasks:
  • Process and document change orders and coordinate with team members to address any associated adjustments in budget or schedule.

  • Identify and propose process improvements for estimating, procurement, and project coordination.

  • Implement improved procedures for estimation and coordination workflows, leveraging software and other tools to enhance efficiency.

Performance Management and Team Collaboration:

  • Prioritize and manage tasks to ensure the timely completion of all coordination responsibilities.

  • Collaborate with multiple departments to ensure seamless project transitions from estimation through construction.
 
Qualifications:

Education and Experience:

  • Degree or diploma in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, Business, or a related field, or equivalent experience

  • At least 3 years of experience in construction estimation, ideally in wood-framed construction or ICI projects.

Skills and Knowledge:

  • Strong understanding of estimating and budgeting processes within the construction industry, with a preference for experience in prefabrication and green building standards.

  • Proficiency in Google Workspace, construction management software and estimation tools (e.g., Buildertrend, Bluebeam

  • Exceptional organizational and multitasking skills with attention to detail and accuracy.

  • Ability to interpret construction drawings, perform takeoffs, and understand specifications for Passivhaus requirements.

  • Strong negotiation skills and experience in vendor management and procurement.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective collaboration with team members, suppliers, and clients.

  • Strong problem-solving abilities and initiative to propose improvements in processes.

  • Flexibility and adaptability in a fast-paced manufacturing and construction environment.
